Leadership

“Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things,” believed renowned management coach and author Peter F. Drucker. He used the quote to demonstrate the difference between management and leadership.

“The action of leading a group of people or an organisation.”

That’s how the Oxford Dictionary defines leadership. In simple words, leadership is about taking risks and challenging the status quo. Leaders motivate others to achieve something new and better. Interestingly, leaders do what they do to pursue innovation, not as an obligation. They measure success by looking at the team’s achievements and learning.

In contrast, management is about delegating responsibilities and getting people to follow the rules to reduce risk and deliver predictable outcomes. A manager is responsible for completing four critical functions: planning, organising, leading, and controlling.

Unlike leaders, managers do not challenge the status quo. Instead, they strive to maintain it. They evaluate success by seeing if the team has achieved what was expected.

Is it appropriate to challenge older people’s opinions?

It is considered by some that following older peoples’ opinions are best for young people.

However, others say that

this ought to be changed. There are both reasons for

this and In my own perspective, I believed that it is best for young people to challenge the traditions of the elderly generation. On the one hand, there is a reason why some people think that older peoples’ thoughts are correct.

This is because their ideas are based on experiences. Since some of those have been already effective, some people believe that these should be continued and that youngsters ought to follow

this path.

For instance, the use of herbal medicines to treat coughs and colds has been used by elderly since time immemorial and shows effectiveness for some.

Hence, some people say that older people’s way is best to be adapted by young ones.

On the other hand, there are

also those who argue that old traditions should be changed, and I agree. Due to the fast pace of today’s life, everything has changed, including treatments, according to others.

For example, the use of herbal medicines to cure patients are now seen as ineffective because nowadays, diseases are getting stronger and the people

likewise need stronger medicines to fight these diseases. Utilization of a variety of medicines in the market is regarded as more efficacious than herbal medication.

Thus, I believe with others that changing old trait should be done. In conclusion, people vary in opinions, I believe that the conventional way of living of elderly people ought to be modified by young ones due to the fast development of the world.

WHETHER TEACHERS HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES ON STUDENTS THAN FRIENDS

Some people believe that teachers are more influential than friends. However, I think that

friends have a greater influence on us. I feel this way beyond one reason that I will explore in the ensuing essay. First of all, students are mostly influenced by their friends, as they spend most of their time with them. We take our classes with them, go traveling, watch movies, throw parties, play with them, and do many other things together. All of these give room for their influence in our life. For instance, one of my friends used to play games till midnight, and sometimes, for this reason, he would miss some classes

also. For this issue, teachers tried to help him by giving some suggestions and

also taking some other steps to tackle his problem, but they could not solve it. Some days later, we decided to help him, so we went to his house routinely some days later and tried to see how much we could do. Surprisingly, one month later, we found that we were seeing a new person, who had changed his lifestyle and had become a good student.

This is a good example of how friends influence us. Secondly, their psychology is quite similar to ours, which is one of the great reasons for this influence. As we are the same age, their thinking reflects our situation very well. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. For example, a few years ago, when I was searching for a university, I became confused between two universities. One was quite popular, the other was

student friendly. Subconsciously, I preferred the latter, but I was confused. So, I went to take suggestions from my college teachers. They suggest picking the first one, as the school’s reputation can be helpful in getting a good job. I liked the teacher’s advice. However, I consult with some close friends, who advise me to go with the second option because a student-friendly university will help me gain more knowledge while also providing me with a friendly environment. I just loved their thoughts and enrolled in that friendly university. At the end of the day, I found that they gave me a good suggestion, influential, which matched with my thoughts, and helped me in my career.  To summarize, our mates have more impact on us than professors because they are with us most of the time, and their ideas are identical to ours.

WHETHER IT IS MORE EFFICIENT TAKING RISKS AND WORKING QUICKLY OR MOVING SLOW BUT CAREFULLY

In this era of unprecedented technological advancements and widely unmonitored exposure to all types of media, the question whether it is more efficient taking risks and working quickly or moving slow but carefully is a controversial topic to debate about. Myriads of people strongly assume that taking risks is more beneficial because if you succeed, your … amount is huge, while others do not accede to this dimension, claiming that many people ruin everything by risking what currently they have. Considering all the pros and cons of this issue, I am inclined to conclude that taking moving and working quickly is always the best option. My thesis is formed by the considerations which will be stated in the following paragraphs.

First and foremost, it goes without saying that happiness depends on adventure, which is of course different for every person. But, they have one thing in common. Almost everything costs money now, so even a little activity, clothes, trip or even food that makes you happy, depends on money. Without taking risks you cannot reach the success and always have the opportunity to just keep yourself happy.  A compelling example of this can be my uncle Adam’s experience. He  was alwyas very economical and did not like to spend money, but this did not mean, he was confident with the life he had. He always dreamed of going to Paris, the city of love, because her wife who died recently, also wanted to be there once, but they were not financaly stable to do that. After a few years my uncle found a pretty good job. He was working an assistant in a huge and well-known corparation. Even though our whole family encouraged him to take the trip and make his and his wife’s dream come true, he was ayways saying that now there are more important things to do. He thought it was to riski to spend the whole money he saved for a long time. I never saw him smiling or enjoying life, because he was addicted saving money and living a quet, non-risky life. Contemplating on all of this, it is better to take risks even losing something, but living, not surviving.

Furthermore, it is crucial to highlight the fact that the most successful people who are extremely rich now, took risks when they were younger. A businessman named Christian was the director of a big corproation. In our city and country he was very famous with the amount of money he had. Everything was going on simply, when suddenly a scandale with the title “Christian lost his all money” occured in all newspapers and online news programmes. Christian and his father made the business, and after an argument they had about deciding something what to present next in their programme, Christian rejected everything he had, and promised himself to start his own business. Everyone was telling he is stupid, but now he owns the most hotels in out town and he is even richer than he was, Hence, taking risks sometimes helps to reach a huge success, even though no one believes in you.

To sum it up, the spectrum of opinions people may entertain regarding the topic of taking risks, can be extremely wide. But still, I am for the original statement, taking into consideration such factors as people’s mental health and moving forward.

PARENTS ARE MORE INVOLVED IN THEIR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION NOW, THAN THEY WERE IN THE PAST

In today’s progressive and competitive world where we live, scientific and education matters are the most important building blocks to the success of any society and its individuals. it is no secret to anyone that parents play a fundamental role in making well-educated and knowledgeable people. In this line of thought, there has been a controversial debate among people over this issue that whether parents today are more concerned with their children’s education or were parents in the past. Personally speaking, I think that parents nowadays are more obsessed with their children’s education than were parents in the past. My viewpoint is based on a few reasons, two compelling ones of which are elaborated upon hereunder.

The first vital point to bear in mind is that today almost most jobs have become more specialized and scientific thanks to the genesis of the technology, meaning that nearly all companies and business institutes are willing to hire individuals who are well-educated, knowledgeable and have academic degrees. In this vein, parents today have become aware of this widespread scientific and specialized environment, as a result, they have become more worried about their children’s learning and education because they like their children will be made a successful person and will be hired in a decent job in the future. However, in the past, as the level of population was still low and the world was not industrialized, lots of people followed the vocations of their parents and ancestors and worked at the early stages of their ages to help their family’s subsistence. It can be derived that there was no necessity for parents to be involved in their children’s education in the past due to the simplicity of the past life and the lack of high-tech industries.

Secondly, it is crystal clear that with the development of education, most parents are well-educated so that they also expect their children to acquire a higher level of education. To put it in the other word, nowadays parents read more books than did parents in the past; furthermore, they have a much wider horizon than had parents in the past, so that they are willing to spend most of their time on the education of their children. Indeed, parents today have been informed well about the welfare level and social status that well-educated and knowledgeable people have in communities so that they are ready to do anything to boost the education of their children. Therefore, paving such a circumstance for their children, parents today provide their children with many opportunities to make them more educated and knowledgeable compared to the level they are at, which is why they nowadays pay more attention to their children’s education than ever before.

To put it in a nutshell, having considered all the aforementioned reasons, I do believe that parents today are more obsessed with their children’s education than ever before. Not only today’s industrial and high-tech environment make parents aware of the condition of jobs that their children will be supposed to engage in, but also parents have a willingness and desire that their children gain a higher level of knowledge and education than they did in the past.
